Heike Klussmann
Heike Klussmann studied at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the University of the Arts Berlin. She has received numerous awards, including the International Tunneling & Underground Spaces Award 2014, the Higher Education Prize for Teaching Excellence 2012 and the iF Design Gold Award 2012. She has exhibited internationally, among others, at the Berlin State Museum National Gallery, THINK:Material in Toronto, the SCIN Gallery in London, deTour in Hong Kong, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin. She has taught and conducted research at numerous institutions including the ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena (USA) and at Monash University, Melbourne (Australia). Since 2005 she has been working as a professor for art and architecture at Kassel University. There, together with Thorsten Klooster, she founded the transdisciplinary research platform BUILDING ART INVENTION, dedicated to the experimental development of new materials. The platform has generated new materials such as BlingCrete (light reflecting concrete) and DysCrete (power generating concrete).
